My fascination for web technology began while I was a recruiting in the Digital Creative sector. I worked with my clients helping to recruit for Web Developers, Software Engineers, UI & UX designers, which gave me an opportunity to immerse myself within the developers community. I became intrigued by programming and gained an appreciation for Web Development. This fuelled my excitement for the tech world and reinforced my desire to pursue Web Development as a career.
To this end, I left my career in HR and start building the blocks to reach my new goal. I started dabbling in code on Udemy Web Development online course. This is where I got a real taste of coding and enjoyed it. To further develop my practical programming skills in a collaborative environment, I studied 12 weeks Immersive Web Development course at General Assembly. I have learned to create full stack web application with MERN stack including Python, Flask, MySQL. I feel ready for an exciting career in Web Development and would love to establish myself in a role where technical web development and creative working is combined, to create interactive web applications.
This is a paired project and we created an event based app that allows users to create their own club for i.e. Mums breakfast club, that can create and organise an event. My focus was varied across front-end design, functionality of search bars, authentication and error handeling. I also pair coded with my teammate on back-end to set up authentication, RESTful routes, Database structure and API. The main challenge on this project was to build follow and comment features. The app utilises the Dark Skies API to give real time weather reports for the date and location of the event and City Mapper to give estimated time journey from user's location to the event.
Technologies - HTML5, CSS3, Bulma, JavaScript (ES6), React, Python, MySQL, Flask, TDD, City Mapper API, Dark Sky API, Heroku.

This is a web app that allows users to share landmarks or any places of interest, which can then be used by others users to create their own trip by adding a collection of the places of interest. My part on this project was to build the front-end for the app that includes pages and routes for the home, index, show, user, forms, search functionality, error handling, maps and testing. This was a group project and we managed our workload by running sprints session every morning and at the end of day. We used Trello to prioritise and delegate work, keep a track of our progress and used Slack to communicate while working remotely.
Technologies - HTML5, CSS3, Bulma, JavaScript(ES6), React, Express, MongoDB, Node.js, oAuth, MapBox API, TDD, Git & Github, Heroku.
Group Project - 7 days
After only 2 weeks in the course with GA, I recreated a popular arcade game ‘Space Invaders' using JavaScript and jQuery. The core requirement for this project was to use a 20 x 20 div grids to create the game, as it allows us to implement JavaScript and jQuery effectively including HTML5 and CSS3. The main challenge here is the movement of large groups of aliens in formation, and the animation of the bombs and player's shots. I am particularly pleased that I made use of localStorage to keep a record of score board. This gave more meaning to the game as user would try to be on the score board of top 5.
Individual project - 7 days
Prior to joining General Assembly, I studied the Web Development Bootcamp online on Udemy. I created, 'Yelp Camp' app that allows users to look for camping sites and create new camp site. The user can rate the camping sites and leave comments. The campground's location is also shown on google maps. The project introduced me to full stack technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, jQuery, REST, Node.js, Express.js and MongoDB.
